The Ones We Love Never Truly Leave Us- Maraia’s Tale
I opened my tinted blood red eyes and stared around the room. Autu, Benji, Phoenix, and all the others were gone. All that remained was a room draped in jet black, with swirls of silver. The depths of my soul, I realized.
“Maraia.. I never once believed I would see you here again.” The all knowing being known to some as God, others as Fate or Destiny, but the one I knew as Omni spoke in an almighty voice.
I stared into her silvery blue sapphire eyes fearlessly. I knew my fate. This was only a simple technicality. “You know your own fate, do you?” She asked. I simply nodded, turning my gaze to the floor.
“I gave you a second chance when you killed yourself all those years ago. I warned you what would happen if you ever died again. It was supposed to be impossible.” She gazed at me, pity in her eyes. It was an awful fate, even I knew that.
“And now you shall become the thing you should have become 5000 years ago.”
A little over 5000 years ago, I had been a priestess for Pharaoh Atemu. I had it all. Life was great. But all that changed when he died. A new pharaoh came to power. One that hated him. He treated us lower than dirt. He used us as punching bags and sex slaves. I was one of the hardest to break, or so he said. But then it finally got to be too much. I walked to my room and stood on the balcony and jumped.
Fate smiled on me that day. Not even I know why. I was assigned to a young earth elementalist named Mara whose parents were murdered. I was her way out. Her guardian and her friend. She had come a long way from the scared, frightened little girl. She had blossomed into a woman that was confident of herself and her abilities.
“You won’t keep your memories. It will only make things harder if you keep them. The voice of Omni snapped me back to reality.
“G-gomen nasai.” I stuttered, looking at her. My face must have shown my confusion, because she repeated it.
I blinked. I had forgotten about that. Most of Full Moon’s information was actually true. Except that shinigamis’ wings were ebony, not white. They were given a color and an outfit that was determined by your soul. “You know your chosens, I trust?” I nodded. My color was red, my animal was a tiger.
With a snap of her fingers, my kimono was transformed into a Meroko-isque outfit. I hat was tied around my chin and tiger ears were attached to it.
“Now. Your memories.” She murmured and raised a hand. My memories were erased with a flash. I remembered only my name and why I was here. Two phrases stuck out in my mind. Hikari no Tenshi. Kkwy no Tenshi. Angel of Light and Angel of Dark.
I shook my head and the ghostly vapors of the past disappeared. I stood staring at the woman.
“Now go Maraia.” In a flash of blinding white light, I disappeared, appearing in a room I felt I should know. A green eyed girl with white a gold wings held a sobbing 14 year old girl. They looked like friends that hadn’t seen each other in years. The older girl slowly unfurled her wings and stood up. Her eyes caught mine and she gasped.
“K-kkwy?” She asked softly, staring at me in a mix of shock and horror.
“You truly are a kkwy no tenshi..” The younger girl whispered. The smaller girl had limp black hair and dark green eyes that looked as if they had seen so much pain and never wanted to see any more ever again. They were heart-breaking eyes, and I had an uncontrollable urge to hold her and take her pain away. But who WERE they?
“You don’t remember, do you?” The soft voice of the younger girl spoke up. I shook my head, and her face fell. “I’m Katie or Autu.” The other girl cheerily spoke up. “I’m Mara!” I nodded. “Pleasure to meet the both of you! I’m Maraia.” Gods, I couldn’t shake the feeling they were very important..
